Graduation Day 2025

The Graduation Day Ceremony at St. Joseph’s College of Education, Jayalakshmipuram, Mysuru, was held on 15^th November 2025, marking a proud milestone for the graduating 53^rd batch of teacher trainees. The day stood as a symbol of dedication, accomplishment, and new beginning, celebrated amidst an atmosphere of bliss and veneration. The dignitaries were accorded a standing ovation as they entered the venue, led by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao S.J., Bishop of Mysore and President, MDES; Professor N. Nagaraja, Registrar (Evaluation), University of Mysore; Rev. Fr. Edward William Saldanha, Secretary and Correspondent, MDES; Rev. Fr. Naveen Kumar, Treasurer, MDES; and Mr. Seby Mavely, CEO, Training and Development, MDES. They were accompanied by Dr. Priya Mathew, Principal of the College, and Dr. Asha P. Pathrose, the Event Coordinator.

Humanities Day

The Department of Humanities of St. Joseph’s College of Education, Jayalakshmipuram, Mysuru, celebrated “Touch of Humanity – 2025” on the 24th of October 2025 with deep enthusiasm and academic fervour. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, Prof. M. Krishne Gowda, Retired Principal and Eminent Speaker; Rev. Fr. Edward William Saldanha, Secretary and Correspondent, MDES; Rev. Fr. Naveen Kumar, Treasurer, MDES, Dr. Priya Mathew, Principal, SJCE; faculty members; and teacher trainees. The celebration was an earnest endeavour to uphold the core values of compassion, empathy, and moral responsibility, reaffirming the significance of humanitarian ideals in education and society at large. The event was thoughtfully designed in two sessions — the Morning Inaugural Session and the Valedictory Session in the afternoon.

Karnataka Rajyotsava 2025

The Karnataka Rajyotsava celebration was organised with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit by St. Joseph’s College of Education, Mysuru, on 1st November.

The programme commenced with a graceful prayer dance performed by Ms. Chandana and her team, which set a devotional and inspiring tone for the day. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms.Suma.

To highlight the significance of Karnataka Rajyotsava, a meaningful video presentation was shown, depicting the rich artistic, cultural, economic, social, and educational growth of the state and its valuable contribution to the nation’s development.

The inauguration of the event was carried out in a unique and symbolic manner by playing the traditional drum, signifying the spirit of the famous lines by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu – “ಬಾರಿಸು ಕನ್ನಡ ಡಿಂಡಿಮವ” (Barisu Kannada Dindimava), invoking pride and reverence for the Kannada language and culture.

A remarkable and creative presentation titled “ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಡು ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ – ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯತೆ” (Our Land, Our Pride – The Uniqueness of Each District) was then showcased by the Kannada medium teacher trainees. The presentation beautifully represented the culture, traditions, and developmental contributions of all 31 districts of Karnataka, reflecting the unity in diversity of the state.

International Seminar 2025

Innovative and Creative Learning for a Sustainable and Inclusive World

On 14^th March, 2025, St. Joseph’s College of Education, Mysuru, Karnataka, India, the pioneer institute of teacher education in association with PKM College of Education, Kannur, Kerala, India organized an International Seminar on “Innovative and Creative Learning for a Sustainable and Inclusive World” on 14^th March 2025. Rev. Fr. Naveen Kumar, Treasurer, MDES, Mr. Seby Mavely, CEO, Training and Development, MDES, Dr. Priya Mathew, Principal, St. Joseph’s College of Education, Dr. Chaluvarajaswamy K T, Convener of the Seminar, Dr. Asha P. Pathrose, Co-convener of the Seminar, and Mrs. Anne Jaya Sheela, Assistant Professor were present.

The International Seminar was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp. During the inaugural address, Rev. Fr. Edward William Saldanha, Secretary and Correspondent, MDES, emphasised: “In the world of innovative and creative learning, we cannot forget our inborn learning ability. Though we have AI and Machine Learning, a teacher is very much essential and cannot be replaced, in an education system. So, as educators, we should research on innovative and creative learning methods which sustain the inborn learning ability in teaching-learning process.” After the inaugural address, the edited book of research papers was released by the dignitaries.
